SWITZERLAND - VERBIER ULTRA RUN(60km & 20km):
The spectacular Swiss Alps hosts the world champions of ultra running! Verbier Ultra Run boasts the most scenic quality of any race course in the world. The beauty of the Alps is matched only by the challenge and passion on a personal level for each competitor. For both distances, 60km and 20km, the course is one loop (une boucle) traveling through the breathtaking trails which include mountain tracks and pathways. This is an international championship race with generous prize money for the winners, which also invites all runners and trekkers to enjoy this unique jewel in the heart of Switzerland. The cost is 55 CHF (Swiss Francs). Pay on day of number and race packet pick-up.
The Verbier Olympian Training Camp invites Olympic candidates from distant parts of the world to train for their dream. Betsy Magee, through her company Extremeworkout, is the sponsor of both the race and the training camp. The young Olympians culminate their training by competing in the 20km Verbier Ultra Run. The camp is invitational and Betsy works with the Olympic Committees of the countries represented in order to offer this experience to the young Olympian hopefuls.
Assistance with travel and accommodations is provided and runners are encouraged to bring family and friends to enjoy the Swiss Alps which also offers swimming, tennis and hiking in addition to the races. On race day, there are frequent aid stations and there is a pasta party the night before the race and an awards ceremony after the race.
